The Skype Web SDK was introduced to provide a RESTful JavaScript abstraction to Lync / Skype for Business. It is delivered as a single JavaScript reference, hosted on the Skype CDN. Under the hood UCWA is used but the new SDK provides a very clean and simple interface which developers familiar with making API calls in JavaScript will find useful. A key benefit over UCWA is that Skype Web SDK support Audio/Video, albeit it with a plugin today, although a plugin-less version is coming soon.

Use Cases

Web-Chat scenarios in browser. Replacement Lync client in browser. Complete embedding of meeting join scenarios into existing web sites.
